Diaries and account books, 1853-1858.

Diaries and personal account books kept by Harison (1853-1858). One diary was kept on a visit to St. Croix, Nov. 1853-June 1854; brief entries describe weather, appointments, and activities with his numerous acquaintances including J.F. Hawley, and members of the families Abbott, Finlay, Du Bois, McCutcheon, and Ruan. He frequently refers to W.H.H., his father, who was in St. Croix as well. Three volumes record his journey to England and Europe in 1857 and 1858. He writes of the sights he has seen and the people and their customs in England, Scotland, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, and France. The volume for 1858 also contains personal expense information. The remaining volume was kept as a personal account book for 1855-1857.
